Ford Parish Council is deeply saddened by the news of the death of Her Majesty, The Queen.

Throughout her long reign Queen Elizabeth II showed unstinting dedication to public service and charitable causes, guiding us all through many turbulent times.

On behalf of all the residents of Ford and the Parish Council I would like to express my deepest sympathy to all her family, our Royal family, for their sad loss.

As a mark of respect, the Parish Council has postponed its next full meeting until the 27th September.

Books of condolence are available for the public to sign at Shrewsbury Library, Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury and the Mayor’s Parlour at Shrewsbury Castle. People will also be able to sign the national online condolence book at www.royal.uk

St Michael’s Church, Ford will be open for quiet reflection during the 10-day period of mourning and anyone wishing to lay floral tributes to Her Majesty are invited to do so at the war memorial in the church grounds or in the church itself.

It is recommended that only the Union flag is flown during the period of mourning, and at half-mast.

Alistair Horn, Chairman, Ford Parish Council
